PROGRAM PROFILE: ALABAMA HUNTSVILLE

The University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) is a public research university located in Huntsville, Alabama. It’s one of three institutions in the University of Alabama System (alongside the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa and the University of Alabama at Birmingham).

The Chargers have consistently been one of the top Division II programs in the country, frequently making NCAA tournament appearances. UAH won multiple Gulf South Conference (GSC) championships under Head Coach Lennie Acuff (current Samford Head Coach), who led the program for over two decades before moving to Division I Lipscomb University. During the 2024-25 season, first-year Head Coach Mick Hedgepeth led UAH to a 32-2 record and GSC Championship before losing to eventual National Champion Nova Southeastern (FL) in the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament.
